The Heaping Pile
The cars sole purpose is to get you from one place to the other. My car on many occasions has been titled my other closet. (Although my closet isn’t as messy as my car.) This heaping pile is another on a list of many piles in my life that I can’t seem to shake.
In this picture you will find an assortment of things.
1. Half eaten cake ( I was going to give it to a bum, but never had the guts to share it.) Some of you may recall my cookie in the trunk episode. I will not share that in fear that I may make you throw up in your mouth a little.
2. A bag of clothes that someone barrowed from me.
3. Bridal pouch, a gift that I meant to give lucee this past week.
4. My mother-in-laws plate. I was supposed to give it to her.
5. Old coffee cups
6. Paper and glue for a project.
7. A dress that I was going to give away but didn’t.
8. A book that I am supposed to be reading
9. Tupperware from my classroom.
10. A microphone??????
11. Gardening gloves
12. Today’s Lunch
13. A pan from when I made treats for my students. That was a November turkey treat! How many months has it been?
14. Backpack
15. Random papers
This is crazy right?
I didn’t even mention the food crumbs and stench.
So in efforts to clean this pile today I first procrastinated for a whole morning knowing that I needed to make this post. When it came to the afternoon, I ate a piece of chocolate thinking, "this will get me started," and called a friend. (Who laughed when I told her what I was supposed to be doing.)
FINALLY I got to work. The sad part was it only took me 20 minutes to clean. I still need to vacuum it, but this is the result of my attempts today. Baby steps!
My rules for my car this summer.
1. No more eating in my car. The crumbs are a bit much….A quote from a fellow passenger, “You could feed a starving child.” (ouch)
2. Never leave the seat of my car without taking something in.
Please make a suggestion on how you keep your car clean.
Are there rules, what are your routines?
You are truly hilarious! It's good to get your "messy piles" under control now because when you have kids someday, they'll have more messiness than you know what to do with! Our minivan takes a beating from all our kids so my rule is that we ALWAYS remove trash (gum wrappers, empty water bottles, etc.) when we buckle up at home before heading out somewhere. I try to bring stuff in every time we go into the house (toys, books, etc.) It's taken me a while to get into a habit, but for the most part, our van stays pretty clean despite the brood of mess-makers I tote around. Good luck with your clean car challenge!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Maegan and her messy car moments:
ReplyDelete1) The first time Maegan cleaned her car (in the 5 years I have known her) and discovered that maggots had been brought to life from a buried uneaten box of cookies in her trunk.
2)One morning, something was wrong with my car, so I asked Maegan to take me to work. She gave a look of fear as she responded, "I might need to move a few things". That was no exaggeration! I had to sit in the backseat on top of the smallest pile I could find (my head still touched the ceiling) and there was to be no hope of finding the seat belt. The front and rest of the backseat had piles as tall as me... After giving her strict instructions to drive safely, I arrived to school. She was kind enough to take me through the parent's line so I could get dropped off close to the door. As I wiggled myself out the backseat door, I could imagine students wondering, "What is Ms. Tangwall doing?"
3) Maegan: "Does it smell in here?"
Me: "Kind of"
Maegan: "Sorry!"
I don't think my piles have ever got as big as yours, but my passenger side floorboard does act as a trash can most of the time. I find that the longer you let it go, the easier it is to keep letting the crap pile up. Whenever I get it nice & clean then I really want to keep it that way & stays for a while. Cleanliness leads to cleanliness :0
