Process Space!

Process space, definition, the places where I put my things when I don’t know where they go.

 Things from my car

This is almost everywhere in the house. This act is what creates my messy piles. I leave things in the kitchen, on the table, on the couch, and a top of the living room floor.
Processing space for laundry. We now have laundry parties!

When I cleaned out my car….where do you think that mess went? Nate said my blog header should be “moving tornados.” Once I clean the space I have no where to put it.
So before I left for the weekend I picked up my messy piles. My husband was quite pleased because he was in a fairly clean house; therefore, he was even motivated to deep clean the tub in the bathroom. YAY!

Now my problem has always been bringing in the things from the car, which I did, and putting them in an area that isn’t ALL OVER. Bring on the process space! This will now be my designated area where I will put the things that I need to put away.
Process space.
Where is this place? I have decided that it will be the area right by the door. That way I can see it staring in my face. Where is your process space?

The Heaping Pile

The Heaping Pile
The cars sole purpose is to get you from one place to the other. My car on many occasions has been titled my other closet. (Although my closet isn’t as messy as my car.) This heaping pile is another on a list of many piles in my life that I can’t seem to shake.
In this picture you will find an assortment of things.
1.  Half eaten cake ( I was going to give it to a bum, but never had the guts to share it.) Some of you may recall my cookie in the trunk episode. I will not share that in fear that I may make you throw up in your mouth a little.
2.  A bag of clothes that someone barrowed from me.
3.  Bridal pouch, a gift that I meant to give lucee this past week.
4.  My mother-in-laws plate. I was supposed to give it to her.
5.  Old coffee cups
6.  Paper and glue for a project.
7.  A dress that I was going to give away but didn’t.
8.  A book that I am supposed to be reading
9.  Tupperware from my classroom.
10.   A microphone??????
11.   Gardening gloves
12.   Today’s Lunch
13.   A pan from when I made treats for my students. That was a November turkey treat! How many months has it been?
14.   Backpack
15.   Random papers

This is crazy right?

I didn’t even mention the food crumbs and stench.
So in efforts to clean this pile today I first procrastinated for a whole morning knowing that I needed to make this post. When it came to the afternoon, I ate a piece of chocolate thinking, "this will get me started," and called a friend. (Who laughed when I told her what I was supposed to be doing.)
FINALLY I got to work. The sad part was it only took me 20 minutes to clean. I still need to vacuum  it, but this is the result of my attempts today. Baby steps!

My rules for my car this summer.
1.       No more eating in my car. The crumbs are a bit much….A quote from a fellow passenger, “You could feed a starving child.” (ouch)
2.       Never leave the seat of my car without taking something in.
Please make a suggestion on how you keep your car clean.
Are there rules, what are your routines?

The Room (Beware)

Ok friends....I know it is hard to believe but this is my room on a daily basis. Sick right! It’s a small version of A&E Hoarders. This is the way I have lived ever since I was a child. I had to clean my room as a kid, but it was always after it got to this point.  I have never established a routine for this space.
This is what my nighttime routine consists of…...
1. Take out my contacts.  I hardly ever rinse my case out. (Nate thinks this is absolutely disgusting)
2. Head into THE ROOM and remove my clothes (right where I am standing).
 3. Put on my pj’s.
4. Jump in bed.
5. I simply plug in my phone and say good night.
Within seconds I am asleep. No routine, no brushing teeth, or even reading. You are probably cringing right now. I think I am hyperventilating as I am typing this.

So in my efforts of cleaning up my life style this summer this is my new routine.
1.       Walk in my bathroom and remove my contacts. Cleaning out my case before I put them in.
2.       Brushing my teeth.
3.       Pick up my clothes and put them in a spot. (Still need to make a habit of putting them in the right hamper. This is another blog.)
4.       Get in my pj’s.
5.       Plug in my phone and say goodnight.
It has been a week and my room now looks like this……I am in the midst of breaking my 25 years of habits.
My side of the bed with a book. Impressive right!

Cleanliness

Cleanliness, definition, is the absence of dirt, including dust, stains, bad smells and garbage.

Ok the cat is out of the bag and many of you don't know this about me.(Sarcastic remark) I am just going to come out and say it......I am a messy person. Whoo that was hard. I am not sure if you view me as a clean person or not, my close friends do NOT. My poor roommates had to deal and now Nate (husband) is reaping the benefits as well. Many times I am teased for my cleanliness, which is all in good fun. But I think the teasing is also a c'mon Maegan, really! I am me, yet this me could be a bit more clean. So I thought if I EXPOSE myself, maybe it will break my habits that I have had ever since I was a kid. Although, I have to admit there is a deeper issue behind my cleanliness,
LAZINESS
Laziness keeps me from taking the extra steps in order to keep my life in order.

My nickname should be good intentions Maegan.

So as my school year has ended (Thank God) I have decided to change my messiness and develop a routine of good habits that I can carry on into the next year. Isn't the theory make or break a habit in 21 days!

My goal this summer is to take all my
messy piles
and turn them into something beautiful. I hope to break habits and rebuild routines. In my first attempt to organize my messiness I have created a daily schedule. This schedule includes all of my duties for the week. Each day I must complete one chore sometime in that day.

I have compiled a list of all the messy piles in my life.

Car
Bedroom
spare rooms
Kitchen
Bathroom
Flower beds
The dreaded unfinished basement!

Join me on my journey with messy Piles.
